99cents is an advertising agency headquartered in Cape Town.
At 99cents I am part of a 4-person development team at its infancy that is driving digital innovation at the agency. As the only backend developer I build and maintain all our backend systems for our internal tools and our clients. I also help maintain online stores for the agency’s clients. Our clients include Shoprite Checkers, House and Home, Ok Foods, Ok Furniture and Akermans.
My stack at 99cents is PHP, Laravel, Symfony, Magento, Vuejs, Python and AWS.
Monetise is an eCommerce agency based in Cape Town.
At Monetise I developed and maintained online stores powered by Magento, an Open Source PHP MVC based eCommerce framework, as well as worked closely with the COO to put together proposals, quotes and project scopes and project plans.
My key technical responsibilities were setting up Magento, customising the default backend functionality to meet the functional specification, customising the frontend to meet the design specification, automating product migrations from previous platforms to Magento or from stock management systems to Magento, migrating products from Magento 1 to Magento 2, enhancing the default Magento theme user experience, developing internal Magento modules , developing internal WooCommerce modules, installing and configuring third party Magento modules and developing internal Magento modules.
Monetise did not have an appointed Senior Developer, I was a de facto Senior Developer. This translated into working closely with the COO to compile quotes and proposals for clients and to scope projects. It also required interfacing with clients and managing client relations. I wrote manuals for client training and trained clients to manage their shops.
Built and maintained websites for Small to Medium businesses that were going online for the first time as a means to establish their online identity as well as reach a broader audience - using wordpress.
I graduated top of my class of 158 students.
I got the highest grade in maths in our local cluster of 10 schools.
I was the president of the Student Council.
